ADNEC Marks First Safety Day

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) marked its first safety day as part of its priority to raise awareness among employees and partners about the importance health and safety at workplace and reduce the rate of incidents across its venues.

Organised in close association with Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD), ADNEC Safety Day is an opportunity for all ADNEC staff and partners to commit to a single objective - to make ADNEC the safest venue in the region and the whole world. 

Drawing the participation of a large number of ADNEC employees, event organizers and contractors, the event included various activities and awareness lectures that shared knowledge and expertise in the field of event safety. 

Addressing the attendees, Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Acting Group CEO, ADNEC said: “The launch of ADNEC Safety Day demonstrates our commitment to ensuring a safe workplace for our employees while delivering injury-free events. This event has been designed to spread the culture of safety in line with the objectives, directions and initiatives of the leadership of Abu Dhabi and OSHAD. Following this event, I am confident all employees, event organizers and contractors will be aware of the possible challenges they could face on a daily basis and the relevant steps that can be adopted to manage those risks.”

Dr. Jaber Eidha Al Jabri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center, said: “OSHAD is committed to supporting ADNEC in its efforts to become the safest event venue in the region. As one of the key drivers of Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification, preventing injuries in the event industry is a key priority for the center. In implementing sound health and safety practices in its daily business activities, ADNEC has set an exemplary model for other entities seeking to introduce preventive measures for shaping a healthy & safe work places.”

ADNEC offers 133,000 square metres of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.8 million people across 369 events in 2015.
