Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) will host a range of international, leading conferences and exhibitions this February at both the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and the Al Ain Convention Centre. With major events arriving in Abu Dhabi this month including the World Urban Forum 2020 and UMEX and SimTEX 2020, and the accompanying conference, ADNEC continues to enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as the region’s capital for business tourism.

At the start of the month, ADNEC will welcome the Leader’s Forum on February 4 as part of TVET Innovation Week, which is dedicated to outlining the latest developments in technical and vocational education training. The one-day session will bring together trade leaders and policy experts to discuss how to bridge the gap between industry and educational institutions to encourage and implement vocational training for the future.

From February 8 to 13, ADNEC will welcome the tenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF10), the largest global conference on urban planning. The six day conference is organised and convened by the United National Human Settlements Programme (UN Habitat), in conjunction with the Department of Municipalities and Transport Abu Dhabi.  The conference, which will be meeting for the first time in the Arab region, will gather international policy-makers and academics to discuss and collaborate on how we design cities for the future.

Later in the month, from February 23 to 25, ADNEC will welcome global manufacturers and industry experts from the unmanned systems, simulation and training sectors for the fourth edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and the Simulation Exhibition (SimTEX). Organised by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, both exhibitions present the latest developments in how worldwide industry experts, academic scholars and thought-leaders are using artificial intelligence to power unmanned vehicles and systems for ecological and humanitarian purposes. This includes mapping the spread of wildfires, understanding where to plant crops and planning urban centres for the future.

In addition to the exhibitions, the UMEX and SimTEX Conferences will run on February 22, bringing together sector analysts and policy makers to explore the challenges and opportunities created from the growth of artificial intelligence and the fourth industrial revolution.

Running concurrently to UMEX and SimTEX 2020 will be the Mohammed bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) and a series of artificial intelligence and robotics competitions. The MBZIRC, running from February 23 to 25, will bring 34 teams and 500 gifted robotics and artificial intelligence researchers from across the globe. The artificial intelligence and robotics competitions have been organised by the Ministry of Education to engage 1,500 students and further their career development in science and innovation.
