Publication Date: 20 Dec 2006

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has announced that it has appointed international venue services provider, Melville Exhibition and Event Services, as the mains contractor at the new National Exhibitions Centre currently under construction in the UAE capital city. The move comes as finishing touches are applied to the new venue.

The appointment will see Melville provide the mains, water, waste and rigging services for the new 55,000 square metre venue, the first phase of which will be completed in January. Melville also intends to offer its services to organisers of the events staged at the state-of-the-art Exhibition Centre.

Simon Horgan, Chief Executive Officer, ADNEC said:

"The new venue will be the most modern exhibition facility in the world and one of the largest purpose-built exhibition centres in the Middle East. ADNEC is aiming to raise the bar in the UAE exhibitions industry and therefore I am delighted to have Melville, one of the World's best all-service exhibition contractors, to work with us,"

Nick Marshall, Chief Executive Officer, Melville said:

"This is a great opportunity for Melville to expand its presence in a growing market by providing contracting services for one of the world's most important exhibition centres. Abu Dhabi is becoming a significant destination for the exhibition industry and we look forward to bringing our quality-focussed capabilities to the UAE capital city."

When complete, Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre will offer 55,000 square metres of interconnecting hall space, 8,000 square metres of high specification multi-purpose hall space for conferences and events, in addition to dedicated conference and banqueting areas for 1,200 people.
