ADNEC and Hyatt International appoint General Manager for Abu Dhabi’s new iconic hotel

Publication Date: 28 Dec 2009

Kumar brings to ADNEC three decades of experience gained at some of the leading hotel properties in the Middle East. Immediately prior to taking up his role at the Hyatt at Capital Centre, Kumar was the Hotel Manager of the Grand Hyatt Dubai, a position he held since 2004. He also spent ten years in senior roles at the Hyatt Regency Dubai.

Conveniently linked to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the 189-room Hyatt at Capital Centre, which is located on floors 18 – 35 of Capital Gate, is set to become a landmark on the Abu Dhabi skyline and a leading business hotel in the region. The remarkable sky lobby which is suspended 80 metres above the ground will offer sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf, the surrounding city, the Mangroves and Abu Dhabi Islands such as Saadiyat Island and Yas Island. The sleek and elegant interior design of the hotel will offer guests a refined experience of contemporary luxury.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Horgan, ADNEC Group CEO said, “Hyatt at Capital Centre is poised to become a hotel of choice for the affluent business traveller visiting Abu Dhabi. We therefore needed a General Manager who understands what it takes to operate a landmark hotel in such an iconic building.  We are convinced that Ashwini Kumar is the right choice to be at the helm and we welcome him to ADNEC and wish him the very best in his new role.”

Thierry Bertin, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Hyatt International of Southwest Asia, added: “"Hyatt International is privileged to have been chosen to operate such a prestigious hotel within such an important development for Abu Dhabi.  Ashwini Kumar brings an enormous amount of experience to Abu Dhabi and his knowledge of both the international business traveler’s needs and the protocol requirements of the local VIP will ensure that Hyatt at Capital Centre is a success from day one.”

Ashwini Kumar, General Manager for Hyatt at Capital Centre said “I am honoured to have been selected for this prestigious project and look forward to working with ADNEC to establish Hyatt at Capital Centre as one of the most highly regarded hotels in the region.

Hyatt at Capital Centre is located on floor 18 – 35 of Capital Gate adjacent to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, within the Capital Centre development.  Capital Gate, which is widely regarded as being the most inclined building on Earth, recently reached its final height of 160 metres. External glazing is almost fully complete; as is the construction of the striking external “splash” which joins Capital Gate to the existing ADNEC Grandstand.

Capital Gate forms a major part of the Capital Centre development, the business and residential micro-city being constructed around the thriving Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.  Hyatt Hotels Corporation is one of the world's premier hotel companies. The Corporation offers travellers more than 136,000 rooms in over 735 hotels, located in 44 countries around the world.
