Abu Dhabi to Convene FIP Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress 2019

Abu Dhabi has won hosting rights for the FIP Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress 2019, making the UAE the first country in GCC region and only the second in the Middle East to hold this important international event. Emirates Pharmacy Society, a member organisation of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) made the announcement on the sidelines of Arab Pharmacist Day held in Dubai.

Set to run at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 22 to 26 September, 2019, the annual FIP conference is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from across the world, including heads of international and regional associations as well as key decision makers in various disciplines related to the pharmaceutical sciences.

Providing a platform to highlight various topics and exchange know-how, experiences and views relevant to pharmaceutical sciences, the event will seek to enhance the role of pharmacists in improving healthcare systems across the world. It will examine the most important scientific innovations in the pharmaceuticals domain and explore ways to strengthen the role of the pharmacists in delivering the right treatment regimen and methods.

HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), said: "Abu Dhabi’s winning bid for the 2019 edition of FIP Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress marks another major success in attracting high-profile international conferences and events to the emirate. It is also a vote of confidence by the global entity in the Abu Dhabi’s unique capabilities to host leading world events.”

ADNEC has recently won the rights to host many high-calibre international events through its close collaboration with leading global government agencies as well as its own strategic partners across diverse sectors. Some of these events include International Diabetes Federation’s (IDF) World Diabetes Congress 2017, WorldSkills 2017, World Conference of Family Doctors (WONCA 2020), among others. These wins have helped Abu Dhabi consolidate its reputation as the business tourism capital of the region, and diversify its portfolio of international events and specialised conferences.

ADNEC offers 133,000 square metres of interconnected floor space to meet the requirements of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.5 million people across 480 events in 2016.
