Publication Date: 30 Apr 2008

The award was presented to the international event organisers, Turret Middle East Ltd at a ceremony held in Dubai on the 28th of April 2008.

Receiving the award, Richard Hease, Chairman of Turret ME, the organisers of the World Future Energy Summit, said "This award gives the World Future Energy Summit a fantastic recognition for a launch event which succeeded in creating a Davos-style event for Abu Dhabi. It was about more than talking, it was about business."

The first World Future Energy Summit made international headlines with over 3,000 VIPs and delegates attending the official inauguration of the event that was held in ADNEC in early January this year.

WFES 2008, hailed as the best launch event was hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted, multi-billion dollar investment initiative to offer a global cooperative platform to develop and deploy advanced energies and sustainability-related technologies.

"Masdar played a critical role in bringing together global leaders and experts to Abu Dhabi to address the world's future energy challenges. We are looking forward to working closely with Masdar on future events," added Hease stating Masdar's keen involvement in the event.

Commenting on the tribute paid to WFES, Simon Horgan, ADNEC's Chief Executive Officer said, "One of the reasons ADNEC was started is so that new shows like this can be a success. It really was a remarkable event".

In a nation, where the MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) is regarded as a highly competitive industry, the coveted award will further boost the thriving exhibition activities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The awards were judged by an international panel of experts including heads of events associations, production companies, logistics engineers and marketing and PR experts.
