ADNEC Hosts Internal HSE Campaigns to Promote Health and Environment Awareness among Employees

Publication Date: 10 Jun 2015

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has launched a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) campaign which runs from 9 to 11 June 2015, as part of its mandate to sharpen focus on environmental protection and accelerate efforts to promote preventive health activities among its employees and wider community.

As a key component of ADNEC’s corporate culture, HSE activities are high on its agenda to provide a healthy and enabling environment to its employees. Through addressing these critical issues, ADNEC seeks to bring about meaningful changes in its daily practices towards ensuring societal well-being and the protection of surrounding environment.

Given this priority, ADNEC continuously seeks to increase the knowledge and awareness of its employees as well as the society at large through organising initiatives such as ‘Stop and Drop’. Such efforts will contribute to the realization of the objectives set by Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. ADNEC invites all its staff as well as members of community to actively participate in the ‘Stop and Drop’ campaign and donate their reusable electronic devices for a good cause.

The annual ‘Stop and Drop’ recycling and donation campaign aims to encourage ADNEC employees as well as members of community to donate their used electronic items that are in good condition at designated drop-off points across ADNEC. Organised by ADNEC’s ‘green team’, the items collected through the campaign will be donated to people who are not able to purchase new gadgets.

In parallel with the eco-drive, the ADNEC Health and Safety team will run the Healthy ADNEC campaign on 11 June, to highlight the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and undergoing routine health screening. Comprising two sessions, the first one from 10am to 12 noon will include general medical checkups including BP monitoring, random blood sugar monitoring, and BMI and body fat analysis. The second session from 12 noon to 1pm will feature a health talk and video shows on heat stroke and the optimum Ramadan diet.

The company invited members of community to actively participate in both campaigns and learn about ADNEC’s HSE activities and initiatives by visiting the centre during the campaign period.

Last week, ADNEC marked the World Environment Day on June 5, 2014 by organising an hour-long educational session for its staff which included a short presentation and videos about Environment Day, as well as the distribution of plants and shrubs to all participants to promote environmental conservation and cultivation.

ADNEC offers 133,000 sq m of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.6 million people across 327 events in 2014.
