ADNEC Hosts Emirates Skills National Competition 2013 to Support Young Emirati Talent

Publication Date: 21 Apr 2013

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and the Head of the General Women’s Union, from 23 to 24 April, the competition will celebrate unique and exceptional home grown talent.

Emirates Skills was launched in 2006 by the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT). It organises events, training programmes and technical career activities to raise awareness of career-based skills among young Emiratis. The annual eight hour competition invites talented UAE nationals to demonstrate their technical and vocational skills and capabilities to a panel of experts.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Chief Commercial Officer at ADNEC, said: “We are delighted to host the Emirates Skills National Competition for the second consecutive year. The event holds great success in promoting both social and human resources development among the Emirati youth. This competition encourages the future generation to develop skills that will distinguish them in the workplace. At ADNEC, we support events and initiatives that prioritise the development of a highly skilled, qualified and productive national workforce as part of our commitment to Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.”

He added. “To date, ADNEC has successfully attracted events that have a positive social impact on the UAE community, either to raise awareness on significant topics or promote innovation and education. Some of the most popular community events hosted at ADNEC most recently include the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Abu Dhabi Science Festival, Najah, Bedaya and Taweya.”

This year’s competition will witness 310 participants competing in 18 diverse sectors ranging from electrical installations, mobile robotics, and mechatronics to IT software solutions for business, aircraft maintenance, graphic design technology, and jewellery. The event will give away prestigious prizes and awards to the high performers.
