ADNEC EMPLOYEES TO HELP MANAGE EXCEL LONDON DURING LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS

H.E. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC, commented: “Giving ADNEC employees the chance to participate in the organization, management and operation of ExCeL London during the Olympic Games shows ADNEC’s eagerness to develop its UAE national employees. They will be able improve their skills in managing large events and will learn how to cope with any problems and issues that may arise during its organisation.”

Al Dhaheri detailed further that, in coordination with Excel London’s management and LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games), Ahmed Al Obaidli, Deputy Director of Venue Operations and Saad Al Hasani, Security Manager, were chosen to be sent to London from 20 July for a month.

He also stated that the halls will be fully occupied throughout the Olympic Games and that more than 70,000 visitors expected to visit London ExCel per day. ExCeL London will host 7 Olympic Games in addition to 6 Paralympic Games. The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be covered live by 26 TV stations bringing it to more than 1.5 billion people across the globe.

Al Dhaheri added that more than 14,700 athletes from around the world will be participating in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, of which 2,736 will be competing at ExCeL London, and that Excel London is the largest after the Olympic Park.

Al Dhaheri added that ADNEC has already benefited from the experience and skills gained from its ongoing secondment programme with ExCeL London and will continue to do so. The training ADNEC’s UAE nationals have gained has helped them to effectively lead large events and conferences in Abu Dhabi.

Ahmed Al Obaidli, Deputy Director of Venue Operations at ADNEC described his imminent secondment at ExCeL London during the Olympic Games as “an exciting international experience and an important opportunity to acquire new skills and to deal with large international events.”

He also explained that this opportunity will contribute to developing and improving ADNEC employees’ skills in managing operations at ADNEC in the near future: “It will help them learn how to deal and coordinate with all departments in the management of the large events and upgrade the services offered to the company’s clients.”

Saad Al Hasani, Security Manager, said that: “Our participation in the London 2012 Olympics is an opportunity to take advantage of the international security experiences which have to be undertaken to maintain the security and safety of everyone who attends. More than 70,000 visitors per day will visit the venue and more than 14,000 athletes are participating in this year’s Olympic Games.”

Al Hasani further hailed ADNEC’s efforts to support its local employees and improve their skills in different fields related to the organization and management of large events.
